Class 10.1: Final Paper
In today’s class, rather than discussing new content, we are going to turn our attention ahead toward the final term paper that you will eventually need to write and submit for this course. In class, we’ll go through the process of selecting a topic, comparing possible topics to the criteria for the paper assignment, and putting together a workable proposal, as well as look ahead at what a completed paper should look like, how it will be evaluated, and what that means for your course grade.
Since we’ve just had a full week off of class and there will be new readings in each of the next three classes, my advice to all of you is to take advantage of this lull to go ahead and complete the work to prepare for Wednesday’s class, as well. But all that you are required to do to prepare for this class is to read the term paper instructions below, complete the daily quiz, and ideally come to class with a few ideas already in mind of conflicts that you are interested in that you might ultimately want to write about, so that you can bear those in mind as we talk through the thought process involved in selecting a good topic.
